Media Update: May 23rd, 2016 at 3:15 p.m. – Bothell Police Detectives continue to investigate an assault on a Bothell High School teacher. Since the assault last Thursday detectives have been pouring though hours of surveillance video, conducting interviews and following up on leads. As an added measure of safety, uniformed and plain clothed officers were present on campus today as students and faculty retuned to class. The Bothell Police Department is working closely with the Northshore School District on this issue. No additional releases are planned at this time absent any significant developments in the case.
Media Update: May 20,2016 at 3:25 p.m. – Washington State Patrol Crime Scene Technicians have arrived on scene to assist with processing the crime scene in and around the woodshop.
On May 19th at approximately 4:20 PM the woodshop teacher at Bothell High School was assaulted by an unknown suspect. The teacher was struck on the back of the head by a blunt object and had a zip tie placed around his neck. Another staff member discovered the woodshop teacher outside of the woodshop, removed the zip tie and called 911.
The teacher was transported to Harborview Medical Center and was released that evening.
Bothell Detectives processed the crime scene late into the evening and have conducted a number of interviews. As part of the investigation the detectives are currently reviewing security camera footage of the area.
The Bothell Police Department is working closely with the Northshore School District and staff at Bothell High School to ensure staff, student and public safety.
